Now-a-days, many homes being built within the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex consist of small backyards. These small spaces are only capable of holding only tiny swimming pools at best. The challenge for many pool builders is to design and install a gorgeous swimming pool in such a tight work space.

All swimming pools require a 3′ clearance along your fence line. The reason for this is:

• It creates a safety space for: inspections
• People can walk safely around the edges of the pool
• It gives enough room to run plumbing and electrical lines

Tight spaces present many challenges for gunite pool builders. The biggest one is excavation equipment. Homes with narrow fence lines and practically no walk-through area are tough to nearly impossible for excavators to access for dirt removal. Combine that with gunite rigs and steel crews and you’ve got a mess on your hands.

Long story short, many gunite pool builders are stumped by the riddle of small, urban backyards and this is where fiberglass pools reigns as king!
