Installation: The Mirage, Carrollton TX (Phase #1)

This Texas Heat has been something else lately! Although we shouldn’t be surprised since this is how it feels every August. The daily temperatures are rounding up to 100 and the heat index is even higher than that. Sometimes you just wish that you could dip into something cold to cool yourself off

It’s times like this that make us dream of being at the beach or somewhere beautiful to escape from the heat and busy schedules. It’s fun to start planning a family vacation to escape somewhere, but sometimes it seems so far away until you reach that week. As you wait and save money for that vacation this Winter or next Spring, what are you doing in the meantime?

Do you have a place of your own that you can escape to? Is there anything that you like to do to enjoy yourself when you’re not at the office or juggling kids schedules? What if we told you that you could finance a swimming pool for your backyard instead of saving for that expensive family vacation? It’s true! Often times, a well financed outdoor living space can cost you the same per month as putting money aside for that vacation. Would you rather relax for one week on the beach, or everyday in your own backyard?

Don’t believe us? We invite you to see for yourself by getting a quote from HFS Financial – a lending company that helps our clients with outdoor living improvement projects. It takes just 5 minutes to fill out the form and the information can be both insightful and empowering!

The Mirage: A Huge, Free Form Swimming Pool

Let’s take a look at this swimming pool project in Carrollton, TX. As you can see from our images, this backyard is a standard size that is comparable to most backyards – and probably very similar to your own.

For this particular installation, our client selected The Mirage – a large, free form swimming pool that holds up to 14,050 gallons. This swimming pool is classified as a Sport Bottom Hopperwhich is pool terminology for “the deep end is in the middle.” This is a popular design for clients who want to take advantage of in-pool water games, such as: Volleyball or Basketball. Swimming pools with this type of deep end layout are generally purchased because it gives you the freedom to move about the swimming pool and gives your guest room on both ends to walk, talk and mingle easily.

Additionally, the Mirage is considered to be a Mirror Layout. As you can see from our image below, this swimming pool is reflected from one end to the other. This gives it a very interesting and free flowing appearance. And if you’re into sport games like Volleyball, it gives your guest side benches for sitting on opposing teams – pretty cool!

We Work Delicately: Precision Installation Techniques

To say that we are careful at the job site is an understatement. We take great care to provide quality, precision installation at every location. There might be a little extra sand laying around, but our crews and rigs work delicately in your backyard to remove only sections of fencing that are required for us to operate.

Additionally, we collaborate with our clients to select the proper placement and orientation of our swimming pools prior to installation. The unique aspect of purchasing a fiberglass swimming pool or spa is that it simplifies the design process drastically! That’s because our swimming pools are manufactured by San Juan Pools at their facility in Lakeland, FL. From here, our pools ship directly to the job site while our crews are preparing to install by excavating the exact amount of earth to fit the incoming pool shell.

We have our process down to a science and can even coordinate the exact amount of sand and time required for each installation. From choosing the right size excavator to scheduling our sand delivery truck and dirt haul away truck – we are focused on precision timing and quality execution. Our focus on speed, accuracy and spot-on timing is one of the unique aspects of purchasing from Fiberglass Pool Guyz that sets us apart from other pool builders in Dallas Fort Worth!

A Few Things to Point Out: Phase #1 Installation

You may be noticing from the images above a few things that you have questions about. Like, what is that green posting sticking out of the ground? Or what is the white lip that runs around the edge of the pool?

For starters, the green post is actually a equalizer tube that we install at every job site. This is a permanent structure that will get trimmed down after we pour the concrete – so that it is flush with the deck. It will also be covered with a skimmer lid so you don’t know the difference between this material and an actual skimmer. The reason for it’s existing is to help alleviate pressure from the water table below the pool shell. Sometimes heavy rains can cause water to build below the surface. This tube allows the water to flow up and it can easily be drained with a sump pump or water vac to remove water from the tube.

Secondly, the white lip that runs around the edge of our pool is actually a Concrete Form manufactured by Stegemeier. This concrete form is secured to the edge of our free form swimming pool and attached to the rebar posts around the soon-to-be pool deck. When our concrete is poured, this Styrofoam concrete form will stay put and allow the concrete to cure. Once cured, we will remove these forms and the concrete deck will look exactly like our swimming pool shape. This is called a Cantilever Pool Deck and is a unique aspect of working with a fiberglass swimming pool. We can form our decks into whatever shape we want and it’s custom shaped for your home and outdoor living space!
