Free Form Fiberglass Pool with Tanning Ledge
The Sundial is a beautiful free form fiberglass swimming pool with a total surface area of 203 SQFT. We love the Sundial because it contains all of the classic features that our clients love within a compact body.
For starters, the Sundial includes a moderately sized tanning ledge that is adjacent to the shallow end steps. This is a great space for working on that summer tan, reading a book or sipping on that pool cocktail.
In addition to the tanning ledge, the Sundial also includes a standard hopper layout. This means that the deep end is located to one side of the swimming pool (rather than the middle). The Sundial provides the swimmer with a 5′ 8″ deep end which feels comfortable for most users and isn’t too deep. Therefore, this pool is a good option for intermediate-level swimmers who enjoy playing pool games, such as diving for rings or water basketball.
“Small Sized Pool” That Holds 6,400 Gallons
Because the Sundial holds only 4,600 gallons it is also a very easy fiberglass swimming pool to maintain. 4,600 gallons means that this pool only requires 13 gallons per minute (residential) in order to have a complete rotation in 8 hours. Of course, achieving a 13 GPM turnover rate is nearly impossible with a single-speed pump and sucks the life out of your energy bill. That is why we, at Fiberglass Pool Guyz, offer variable speed pumps to our clients! This is a great way to achieve this low flow rate while saving lots of money on electricity cost!
In addition, the Sundial is easily able to fit into nearly any backyard: from tight urban backyards to spacious rural backyards. If you have a lot of space available to situate your Sundial we might suggest pairing it with on one of our beautiful Fiberglass Spa options! We offer several some beautiful spas – all of which are designed to enhance your enjoyment of your outdoor living space.
5′ 8″ Depth with Deep End Bench
As we stated above, the Sundial includes a 5′ 8″ Deep End. This is a very comfortable deep end depth for intermediate-level swimmers who are comfortable with moderate depths while not being too deep to be intimidating.
In addition, to a moderate and comfortable deep end, the Sundial also includes a short deep end bench: sized for one swimmer. This is a nice space to catch your breath between swim sessions or another convenient entry/exit point into the Sundial for some more summer fun!
The Features
In conclusion, the Sundial is a very traditional free form pool shape that slightly resembles a “figure-8.” We love this pool shape for the traditional layout features it includes, such as:
- Standard Deep End Hopper (5′ 8″ depth)
- Curved Set of Shallow End Entry Steps
- Petite Tanning Ledge (located in shallow end)
- Free Form pool shape
This is a very strong contender for home owners who foresee a moderate amount of usage for their fiberglass swimming pool. If you imagine yourself wanting to dip in, swim around or entertain about 5-7 people – the Sundial is perfect for you!

It’s great to know that there are various kinds of shapes of swimming pools available to a customer when they would want a pool built into the back of their house. One thing to consider is the size and the eventual shape of the pool since this would determine how much water would be used to fill it up. If I had a choice to get a swimming pool then I would get one that wouldn’t take up too much space.

We are looking into having a fiberglass pool installed. I don’t see prices. Could you please give me an idea of what the Sundial cost is and what that includes? Thank you!
